More about the Studio
Introduction
Studio Fratesco is dedicated to design that is both timeless and visionary, drawing upon the classical principles of beauty as articulated by St. Thomas Aquinas: claritas (radiance and intelligibility), consonantia (harmony and proportion), and integritas (wholeness and perfection). These enduring ideals shape our approach, guiding the creation of work that is not only visually compelling but also intellectually and spiritually resonant.
Traditional. Visionary.—this is more than a design philosophy; it reflects the spirit of our patron, Friar Girolamo Savonarola, who called the Church back to her foundations while boldly envisioning her renewal. Whether in editorial, branding, or digital design, each project is crafted with depth and intentionality, uniting tradition with innovation. By drawing from the richness of history and applying it to contemporary mediums, we seek to create work that endures, inspires, and elevates.
About the Founder
Alexander founded Studio Fratesco in 2022 in Florence, Italy, drawing inspiration from the city’s artistic heritage—where the sacred brush of Fra Angelico, the chisel of Donatello, and the talent and vision of Botticelli, Michelangelo, and Brunelleschi shaped a tradition of beauty that endures to this day.
Rooted in this legacy, his work reflects the classical principles of beauty as articulated by St. Thomas Aquinas—claritas (radiance and intelligibility), consonantia (harmony and proportion), and integritas (wholeness and perfection)—ensuring that every project embodies both aesthetic refinement and deeper meaning.
His vision for Studio Fratesco is encapsulated in its motto: Traditional. Visionary.
This philosophy is not only a design ethos but also a tribute to the studio’s patron, Friar Girolamo Savonarola, who called the Church to return to her apostolic foundations while boldly proclaiming her renewal through visions and prophecies. Alexander’s work bridges the richness of tradition with the aspirations of the present, crafting editorial, branding, and digital designs that are both timeless and forward-looking.
He has collaborated with institutions such as the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum), The Thomistic Institute, and Arouca Press. His recent projects include editorial design for Angelicum: Historic Renovations, branding for The Thomistic Institute, and the publication of Kenosis for the Servants of Christ Jesus. Through his work, he seeks to elevate design beyond aesthetics, creating work that endures, inspires, and speaks to the intellect and soul.
